- There may have been no first wife. This wife was posited to acocunt for the birth of Goldean Jenkins in 1902 before Rosella Scruggs Benson married Charles Jenkins. It may be, on the other hand, that Rosella was Goldean's mother and Goldean was born out of wedlock before her parents married, only in 1905, according ot Arkansas County, Arkansas, marriage records.
