• Thomas is enumerated in the 1841 census of Pembrokeshire County, Wales.  It is not clear is Esther Eynon is his wife or perhaps a sister Esther.  An older Elizabeth Morgan is only about 15 years older than Thomas and Elizabeth, with a 6-year-old girl of the same last name, and a 15-year-old Elizabeth Evans.  From what we know about his wife, it appears that Esther is another Eynon family members, not his wife.

  A History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin, gives a brief overview of Thomas and his wife Catherine.  The year of birth given here is earlier than his age in the 1841 census would indicate, age 24 indicating birth around 1817.

  THOMAS H. EYNON, farmer, Sec. 12; P. O. Rockland; born in South Wales in 1813. His parents emigrated to Canada in 1832. He came to La Crosse Co. in June, 1854, and settled on his present farm, only 40 acres of which is in La Crosse Co., the balance being in Monroe. He was married to Catherine Watkins, born in South Wales in 1829. Her parents emigrated to Pennsylvania from Wales, in the fall of 1831. Mr. and Mrs. Eynon have four children - Elizabeth, Hannah, Emyr and Harriet. Lost first four children, also the youngest. Farm contains 320 acres. Mr. Eynon was the original settler on his farm, and has made all the improvements which the farm contains. His buildings are fine substantial structures, and compare favorably with the many fine residences and out-buildings to be found in this valley."

  The first child, who is one of the four who died young, was Jane.  She was 6 months old when the family was enumerated in the 1850 census, when they are living in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, with Catherine's parents.
