A Texas death record seems to match Willis, but the name of the deceased is W L Terry. The father is named W L Terry, which matches Wilis Clay's father William L, and the mother's maiden name is Alexander, as it should be for Willis Clay Terry. He is reported as born in Oklahoma, which is correct.
The birth date is in 1907, matching census ages for Willis that put his birth about 1906. But I cannot account for the middle initial L. It could be a clerical error in the original name of the deceased on the death certificate. But I have not seen a copy of the actual death certificate. This death record indicates that Willis died at age 21 of smallpox.
