Place of death of Duncan Lewis Terry is uncertain.  In 1880 the family is found in Fannin County, in 1900 widow Tabitha is found with son Joseph William in Burnet County.

There is a family tradition right out of the wild west about the death of Duncan Lewis, that some of us are trying to find documentation about.  The information is related by Jacque Watkins, a granddaughter of Duncan:
"I am looking for a story (newspaper, etc.) about Duncan Lewis Terry having been killed by stabbing in a quarrel over a horse deal. That is the family lore that I have to date as to his death. I don't know where it happened. Supposedly in Oklahoma or Texas or New Mexico. Maybe at Milano, Milam County [Texas], where Thomas Lewis' store was (I have heard that it may have happened at the store). He was a cattle driver supposedly and this is how he supported his family."
--  personal email correspondence with Orville Boyd Jenkins, September 2008

This is similar to some of the tales of the Terrys and related Jenkinses in Indian Territory/Oklahoma, not to mention some of my Jackson and Green relatives in Cherokee and Choctaw Nation. -- OBJ
