  Nathan's name is sometime Nathanieel and sometime Nathan.  Family sources tell us that the name of Nathan's wife was Ursula Jane.  She is recorded as Usley in osme records or Ulsey in some cases.  They were married in Rutherford County, North Carolina, then at some point before the birth of their son Pleasant in about 1825, they moved to Alabama.  The marriage record below gives his mother's name as Usley.  I first encountered her name in the family's 1850 census, which has the same spelling for this nickname.
