- Some sources have confused this George W Terry with another George W Terry in an unrelated line from New York, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee, who also wound up in Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.

George W Terry
is reported by some genealogies as the son of Duncan and Wyzetta. Also this memorial is attached to our George in some other genealogies. But this George's wife is Mary, instead of Martha and is Mary 13 years younger than Martha was reported in the 1870 census. We might allow that Mary is a second wife. But no one who has Mary as George's wife has a wife named Martha, ignoring the 1870 census, or perhaps assuming that Mary and martha are the same person.
This George W Terry was living in Arkansas not far from Le Flore County, Okahoma, where his family lived in Indian Territory/Oklahoma. He is associated with Scott county, right across the state line from Le Flore County, Oklahoma.
But the memorial reports that this George W Terry is the son of Mary and Thomas Terry, who are not our George's parents. If tthe memorial is correct about the paents, then this is not our George W Terry, whose parents are William Barney Terry and Julia Ann Roberts. So it appears some trees have confused two different individuals and families.
There is a likelihood they are related, howver, due to the location and similar names as run in our Terry family. However, I have not identified the reported parents "Mary and Thomas."
