- Benjamin in genealogies matches the child named Monroe in the 1880 census, aged 1, and thus born about 1879. I have not seen sufficient clues to determine the order of his names, Benjamin Monroe or Monroe Benjamin. Since he is enumerated as Monroe at age 1, I am assuming this is the first name. Also this census clearly confirms that the birth state was Tennessee, not Missouri as some genealogies reprot.
