  • Thomas moved his family from Giles County, Tennessee, to Alabama, between 1829 and 1834, then to Lauderdale County, Alabama, untilbetween 1840 and 1843, when he moved to Panola County, Mississippi.

Thomas and Mary had 7 children, 3 born in Tennessee, three in Alabamaand one in Mississippi.  I do not list them all here.  SeeRootsWeb.com,

The names of 6 children were given to me by a descendant, Laurie LeeButler Myers.  I already had the names and families of John BenjaminButler and William H Butler from other sources.  Laurie Lee gave methe rest.  There was also another child who died in  infancy, which Ido not show in the list.

David Lee reports that Thomas died about 1851.  I have not found adeath or burial record.

In this 1850 census, Thomas and Mary's son Rufus A is living nextdoor.  Rufus and his wife Mary have one son, 4-month-old Thomas E.  In1960, this Thomas, along with his 8-year-old brother John, isenumerated as age 10, in household of the Wells family, who are hotelkeepers.  Rufus' wife Mary James Abernathy died sometime before the1860 census.  Elbert S Abernathy is Mary Abernathy Butler's brother.
