- The name in family sources is Sinie. Some transcriptions of the 1880census (such as Ancestry.com and FamilySearch (LDS) have transcribedthis as Sinia, but the handwritten original reads Sinie.
The final e in that name looks similar to final e in other names witha vowel before the e in other names on the same page of the census.
The name Sinie is very common in the mid to late 1800s. It does notappear to be short for another name.
