  This memorial and most family genealogies report Thomas as one of the 10 children referred to in the count on the 1910 census.  However, Emma is not the mother of the first child, Thomas.  Censuses report this with several details.
  
  In 1880, Thomas is reported as a 9-year-old child.  The oldest child Thomas is listed last, normally indicating the child of a previous wife.

  The 1900 census confirms that Thomas was not the daughter of Emma.  That census reports the length of marriage, telling us that Huddleston and Emma have been married 26 years.  That is, they married about 1874, about 3 years after Thomas was born and one year before Bershaba was born, the first child reported in the 1880 census..
