  I found a memorial on Find a Grave for a James Edward Jenkins buried in Gaffney, in Cherokee County, a little west of where James was born and where his parents Howard and Ada were buried.
  
  James Edward's date of birth matches the census age in 1940 of James Jenkins, son of Howard Jenkins & Ada Louis McSwain, but this is a different James Jenkins.  James Edward's memorial does not state his parents' names, but they are found in the same cemetery:  Clarence and Anna Jenkins.
