    A publication on the Polk-Scroggin history reports Isabella's last name as Buchanan instead of Bohannon.  It gives Thomas' middle name as Clarke.

    The name of Thomas C Scroggin in a list of Revolutionary War soldiers from Kentucky may refer to Thomas Scroggin who married Isabella Bohannon.  A deposition with his application for a pension states that Thomas was born in 1764.

    A deposition made in application of a Revolutionary War pension for Thomas declares he was born 24 July 1764 in Somerset County, Maryland, and after his military service he then lived in Delaware for some years before coming to Kentucky in 1792.  His home in Kentucky since moving there had been in Franklin County.

    On this 9th day of January 1833 personally appeared in open Court before Samuel Todd, Judge of the General Court and sitting in said County, Thomas C. Scroggin, a resident of Franklin County State of Kentucky, age 69 years, who being duly sworn according to law on his oath doth make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress, passed the 7th June 1832.

    That he enlisted in the Service of the United States, under the following named Officers and served as herein after stated ... that in the month of August 1780 he resided in the State of Maryland in the County of Somerset, that in said month and year (?) to the age to be placed on said Roll and was called out into Service Sevin (?) Irvin Capt. 1st Lieut. Polk, the Second, James Henry, the Ensign, Isaac Henry, that in said Company he served as a Militia Soldier from August 1780 until October 1781, that said Irvin's Company was ordered by Col. Scott to guard the mouth of Wecomico River and the mouth of Buck Creek and other inlets, by which the Tories and enemies (? = came) into the States - to keep the Tories and enemies from plundering the County.

    That at said places in said Somerset County there was [sic] guard houses at which said Company was continually under arms with said Company all the time from 1780 until October 1781 after the surrender of Cornwallis.  That he was a young man or boy, and chose to be in that situation after he was first drafted to go there. ---- of his Captain's Company being ordered to stand guard the aforesaid places he was not in any engagement with the British.  That his Captain continued as did all his other Officers in Command until the time of the Battle of Lord Cornwallis when they all went home, and peace was a few years afterwards, that from said Service he received no discharge, as he now (?).

    That he had no documentary evidence.  That he knows of no one by whom he can prove the aforesaid Services.  That his Company was a portion of Scott's Regiment and to the General George DaShields Brigade, but was separated from these Officers because his Captain being appointed to guard Wecomico River, as aforesaid.

    He hereby relinquishes all claim, every claim to a pension or annuity, except for the present, and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any state in the Union.

    Sworn and subscribed this 9th day of January 1833.

    He further states in answer to questions that he was born the 24th of July, 1764, in Somerset County, Maryland, that he has the record from his father as to age.  Also that at the time of service he lived in Somerset, Maryland then lived in Delaware for some years and came to Kentucky in 1792, where he lived all the time since coming to Kentucky, in Franklin County.

    Certificate of pension issued February 11th, 1833.  Arrears to September 4, 1832, $68.32.  Semi-annual allowance ending March 1833, $22,77, total $91.10
