    The is little information about the Cook and Meeks family.  Somegenealogies provide what appears to be information from familysources, but have no documentation.  I have not been able to finddeath and burial documentation for Emmaline Cook Meeks.  Theinformation in the Dalton genealogy matches the grave information onFloyd Meeks.

    William's date of birth on his grave is different from the earliersources reporting birth date or age, which would make his birth morelike 1838, instead of 1835 as the gravestone reports.

    Promoted to 2LT on 16 Dec 1863 (special order #44); Participated inbattles of Prairie Grove, Devil's Backbone, Jenkins Ferry, andPleasant Hill (LA) as well as the evacuation of Fort Smith;
    After the war he returned to Desha Co., AR and married Emmaline AmeliaCook on 28 Feb 1867; They had 5 children of which 3 reached adulthood;the family remained in the Drew and Desha Co. areas for the rest oftheir lives; William Floyd became a successful planter and also servedas Deputy Sheriff of (now extinct) Napoleon, Arkansas; his wife died06 Apr 1898.
