Notes

  • Annie married Buell Stark in 1889.

Georgia, Marriage Records From Select Counties, 1828-1978
    Buell Starke
    Marriage 10 Jul 1889
    Whitfield, Georgia
    Spouse Annie B Stafford

The Georgia record, as the Ancestry transcription reads, reports thatBuell and Annie married in 1889.  But a family genealogy reprots thatthe marriage took place in 1882.  Ages and birth dates in the 1900census report that their first child was born in 1891, which would fitthe later date.  There may have been one or two older children whocould already be out of the home on their own by 1900.  I am inclinedto believe the genealogy just has the wrong year.

    -----------------
If Annie died in Dalton, then it was at the home of her mother.  Atthat time, Buell's younger brother Pryor owned the Stark farm andhome.  However, Buell was forced to take it over, pay off Pryor'sdebts (Pryor had a problem with the bottle and was an inept manager),and move my grandmother down to the family home at Stark Springs inorder to save the farm. ... [Buell's second wife] raised Annie'schildren before she had two sons of her own, James Ferdinand Stark b.1919 and Arnold Wood (changed to George Arnold in 1942) Stark b. 1920.
