Notes
- Jewell, as well as her younger sister Bernice Addie, born 1911, have the surname Merryman. But both girls were born after the death of their mother's husband Walter Green Merryman in 1904. Jewell was born in about 1905, possibly 1906. She was given her mother's current surname of Merryman. In the 1910 census Jewell's mother Mary Millus Merryman was reported as a widow. No information has been found to indicate who Jewell's father was.
