Cecilia's maiden name is not known. The Weast family name of her husband is spelled Weast in virtually all records and references, but on Caecilia's grave marker, it is spelled Wiest. A few genealogies have taken this spelling, and I have even seen Weist on a couple of genealogies, which is a different pronunciation ("wyst").

In the 1860 census, in their daughter Mary's home, there is on Z Wüst, which appears to be the French spelling of the original name. But that spelling is found in native German names in Bavaria also. Another reseacher has added a note saying that this Z Wüst is Cecilia. That could be, representing the German spelling of Zezilia. The birth date and place match, birth in France, and age 66. Sicne Theodore is note reported, we can conclude that he died some time after the 1850 census.
