- This William Jackson may be a brother of Abraham Jackson, whose parentage is uncertain. They both served in the Texas State Troops, which cooperated with the Confederate Army to protect Chickasaw Nation and the Texas frontier during the Civil War.

This troop had the responsibility of patroling southern Indian Territory in defense of the Texas border areas during the US Civil War. William may be a brother or other relative of Abraham Jackson, husband of Talitha Green, daughter of Toliver Green of Gainesville, Texas, formerly from Georgia. No age or other such detail is provided to assist with identification in the military documents.
Abe named one of his sons William Daniel, born in 1862. Talitha's father Toliver Green was in the Texas State Troops, a Texas state force responsible for northwestern frontier defenses of Texas during the Civil War.
