    Death Mar. 11, 1920 Lexington, Holmes County. Mississippi

    Samuel Jefferson Burrell was born on February 3, 1847, to John andMary Ann Jenkins Burrell in Gwinnett County, Georgia. At the age of15, he enlisted for service to the Confederate States of America as aprivate. He served in Company A "Gwinnett Beauregaurds", 42ndInfantry, Georgia Regiment. He was captured during the seige ofVicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863. He was paroled there on July7, 1863.

    He eventually moved with most of his family to Mississippi, mostlikely because of a land grant.

    After the Civil War, he married Annie Eliza "Analiza" Allen, and theyhad 5 children: Jack Luther, James Ephraim, Cicero Franklin, IdaElizabeth, and Samuel Conny. Analiza died in 1884.

    Sometime after 1885, Samuel married again, to Nancy Ann Jenkins. Theyhad 12 children: Mary Eliza, Sicily, Oliver Calhoun, Phallie, Hattie,Katie Lee, Thomas Jefferson Smith, Minerva Marie, Fanny Cornelia,Georgia Mae, John Henry Thaddeus, and Joe.

    He died on March 11, 1920 in Lexington, Mississippi.
