Note the difference in native language reported in the Canadian census(German) and the later US census (Dutch).  Also the 1901 Canadiancensus reprots that everyone in the famliy, including the twoteenagers and 9-year-old Cornelius, were in the Canadian Army.  The1911 census also reports them as German origin, but the language isnot specifically reported in that year.  In 1916, they are designatedagain as Dutch.

The family took a trip to the US in 1907.

Border crossing information is reported for 1907 for the family fromCanada into the US, at the border post of St Albans, Vermont.  Theyare reported in the Canadian censuses of 1911 and 1916 after thisdate.  That indicates this crossing is for a visit, not for theirimmigration.  We are told this occurred in 1919, reported in the 1920US census.  This border crossing record reports Abraham andMargarete's birth palce as Rosenthal, Russia.  I cannot find anyinformation on this location.
