    John Isaac Butler was the child of John Butler and Mary (Hunt) Butler.His father, John Butler brought his family to Giles County fromGranville Co., N.C. and settled at Aspen Hill, which at that time wasthe area of Tarpley Shop southward across Richland Creek including thepresent community known as Aspen Hill. The area extended downHighway-31 to about Conway. John Isaac Butler was the first whitechild born in the area of Aspen Hill and is buried in the ButlerGraveyard on a hill overlooking Richland Creek. John Isaac Butler wasone of a number of children of his father, John Butler and his motherMary Butler, and all of his siblings stayed in the area except forbrother Thomas, who moved to Alabama and then to Mississippi. One ofThomas's children was George W. Butler and he fought in the Civil War.
