Notes

  • "My great great grandmother Lyda Byrd was supposed to be Indian. She was supposedly in the Trail of Tears.  I have often wondered if her name was actually Little Bird and they changed it to Lyda Byrd.  She married Andrew Gilmore and her daughter Sada Gilmore married Enoch Wooley.  Their daughter Lydia Wooley married Isaac Jerome Tate Sr.  They called her Lyddie."

Mary Barick Bone also reports that her family had the traditiona that Sada was or might have been Native American.

"My name is Mary Bone and I am trying to find out more information on my great, great, great grandmother, Sada Gilmore.  I think her nickname was Sadie.  I am trying to find out if we have some relatives that were Indian.  My mother, Esther Lucille (Harris) Barrick and her mother, Maggie Lee (Watkins) Harris looked like they were part Indian with their high cheekbones.  J C Harris (Junior) recently passed away and he was the last of their family.  He had been a resident at the Ardmore, Oklahoma Veterans Center.  They were from the Enville and Lebanon Oklahoma area."
