Notes
- Fendall and Elizabeth Southerland (Littlepage) Gregory had issue:
3. Fendall Gregory, member Virginia Secession Convention, 1861; married, first, April 4, 1861, Bettie S., daughter of William Dew, of King and Queen County; second, December 20, 1865, Alice T., widow of Doctor Owen B. Hill and daughter of Edmund and Maria H. Turner.
-- "Gregory Family of King William County, Virginia," in Winston of Virginia and Allied Families, by Clayton Torrence (Richmond, Virginia: Whittet & Shepperson, 1927), p 262
About 1860, Alice Turner married Owen B Hill. Their son, Owen B Hill Jr, was reported in the 1870 census as 9 years old. Her husband Owen died, however, about 1866, then she married Fendall Gregory. The initial T in her name in the marriage record above probably stands for her maiden name Turner. Note also that her father is reported here as William N Turner, while the book cited above reported her father as Edmund Turner.

In the 1870 census, their blended family was enumerated in King William County, where Fendall was a plantation farmer, on the estate named Piping Tree, where Fendall had grown up, and which he had received from his father.. This census reports Alice's son Owen (spelled Oin by the enumerator) and their two new daughters, aged 1 and 2.

Fendall died in 1877 and in the 1880 census, Alice was reported as the head of the household with her four girls in the household, with her brother Oscar and some servants. The oldest daughter, Maria Alice, who apparently went by her middle name as an adult, was reported here as Margret.
