John's last child, Wallace, was reported in the 1930 census as age 5, so born about 1925. All later records for John and for May are in southern California. They moved at least before 1934, since Pearl is reported on the voter registration rolls for that year in Long Beach City, Los Angeles County. But she is the only one listed. Not John or any other Schuster. They may have divorced about this time.
In the 1940 census, Pearl was reported as Pearl Rogers, and as a widow. She is a single head of household living in Banning, Riverside County, with her daughter Juanita and son Wallace in the home. The census tells us their residence in 1935 was Coachella, Riverside County. So they moved soon after that 1934 voter registration.
I have not found a record for John in the 1940 census. But in 1940 he did register for the WWII draft in Riverside County, where he reports he is working for the county in a camp. His residence is Camp Keen, though his work location is Herkey Creek Camp. John reported his contact as his son O F Schuster in the Navy in New York.
It would appear that they divorced some time after he 1930 census when they are together with their younger children, then she married someone named Rogers, for whom we have found no record, then Rogers died before the 1940 census. John Schuster was buried in Riverside County. Both he and Pearl died in San Bernardino County, but she was shipped back to Oklahoma for burial in her home town, Kinta.
