In 1910, Emily was reported living with her daughter America Selby in the Garrett Township of Johnston County. The enumerator seemed confused about her name, confusing it with her daughter's name. Maybe he just absent-mindedly wrote down her name the same as her daughter America, but with the middle initial A, for Emily J Inman. He also got the daughhter Emily Jane wrong, naming her Emma. But he reported all the family relationships correctly.
