Notes
- In the 1880 census this child's name appears to be written as Waller. But in 1900 it is Walter, which is confirmed in later sources.
1880 Census, Cass County, Texas, 10 July, Precinct 3, page 59, Hse/Fam #559
Christian, Gain P [Daniel Zene] W M 23 Farmer MS England AL
Christian, Elizabeth W F 20 Wife Keeps House TX KY TX
Christian, Walter W M 8 months, born October 1879 Son TX KY TX [TX MS TX?]
Christian, Henry W M 13 Brother Farming TX England AL
The report of birthplaces for Waller and parents is odd. It shows exactly the same as for Elizabeth, as though he were her brother, rather than her son. But it seems highly likely this is Zene and Elizabeth's son, but the enumerator made an error. It appears that Waller's entry should show TX MS TX.
In 1900 Zene is still in Cass County, Texas with his family, but he is now a widow.

In 1910, Daniel Walter is married, and his widowed father is in his household. His brother Andrew Jackson (Jack) Christian is also living with him.
According to the 1910 census, Daniel W Christian was born about 1881 or 1882. Though there is a discrepancy in age from that reported in 1900, this would be the child reported as Walter in 1900 and Waller in 1880. But the ages in 1900 and 1880 match. The clincher on birth year, however, is the 1880 census, since he had to be born before the 1880 census, and not in 1881 as his age in 1910 would erroneously suggest.

I note that thte directory reports his address as 42 Madison, but in 1942, on his WWII draft card, he reported the address as 146 Madison. I take the latter as correct. In 1942, he was working for the Oklahoma Tax Commissoin.
