Notes
- Jane's gravestone is found in the Old McSwain Cemetery, south of Shelby, near the South Carolina state line. It appears she had only one child, Thomas McSwain's first child Sarah, born about 1816. Most genelaogies report only one wife for Thomas, his longtime second wife Selena Francis "Frankie" Bridges.
Jane's date of death was Sept 1817, according to her gravestone. Her memorial on Find a Grave reports the full date as 8 September 1817, from a RootsWeb source. It appears Sarah was her only child. The following grave transcription comes from the photo posted on FAG by MJ.
It is not known if McSwain is Jane's maiden name also or only her married name. There are numerous examples of McSwains marrying McSwains int his area heavily populated by McSwains for generations. Some of Thomas's daughters married men named McSwain.
