A 1917 WWI draft registration matches Glynn, and is in the same plcce where his brother Ben Hill Cowart registered. They were both living in Copperhill, Tennessee, and working for the Tennessee Copper Company. Their mother was later living here as a widow with their sister Ida in her household in 1930 and 1940. This was also Glynn's mother's residence when she passed away in 1949. In 1917, This registration is in the name of Tatum Cowart.

Tatum Cowart
Copperhill (Polk County), Tennessee
Birth 31 Aug 1888 Bartow County, Georgia
Occupation Switchman, Tennessee Copper Co, Copperhill, Tenn
Married with 3 children
Tall, Blue Eyes, Dark Hair, Broken Left Arm
Registered 5 June 1917 Copperhill, Polk, Tennessee
Signed Tatum Cowart
Tatum reports that he is married with 3 children. This matches the family configuration in the census of 1920, except for the addition of a fourth child reported as 1 year and 2 months old. All factors match Tatum C Cowart as being the same person as Glynn T Cowart. His grandson's name as Glynn Tatum Cowart III gives us a valid middle name for Glynn. This was his mother's maiden name. And in the 1920 census he was enumerated under the name Tatum. Puzzling, however, is the middle initial C. This name appears on his grave and some records.
His son and grandson''s names are also spelled Glynn, and the name occurs several tiems in the Cowart lineage. Thus this appears to be the family's spelling of the name. There was a Glynn Tatum Cowart Jr and Glenn Tatum Cowart III. The Social Security record of Glynn Tatum Cowart, born in 1914, reports his father's name was Tatum C Cowart, matching the censuses and WWI registration mentioned above. Tatum C Cowart is a name on the footstone of a Cowart burial in Jasper, Georgia, a location that matches with this familly.
The grave birth date in August 1888 is close to the birth date reported for Glenn T Cowart in the 1900 census, July 1888. In fact, this census birth date is closer to correct that most 1900 census birth dates, which are usually off by at least one year and often have the wrong month.
Glynn and other members of his family worked for the Copper Mine in Copperhill or the Coal Mine in the area. The 1940 census reprots that Glynn (Tatum) nwas a mechanic for the copper mines.
The 1920 census for Tatum C Cowart matches the individual previously reported as Glenn T Cowart in 1900 and 1910. He named his first son Jefferson D, after his father, and his first daughter Mary, after his mother. Glynn's mother is reported as Myrtle Barnes, who is buried in the same cemetery as Tatum C Cowart.
