    Over a year later, Rebecca Lewis came before the Women's Group of her local Friends Society Meeting, the Lost Creek Monthly Meeting, to produce a letter acknowledging her marriage outside the Friend's Society, 31 May 1845.

    In 1866, before their last child was born (in 1867), John B and Rebecca Lewis requested their minor children be accepted into membership of the Lost Creek Monthly Meeting and they were accepted.

    Rebecca died about 1868, after or at the birth of Franklin in July 1867.  In the 1970 census, John was enumerated alone with all the children.  He remarried in 1871.
