  Note the eight-year gap between Martha Jane and Benjamin.  This indicates that William and Martha Jane are the children of Alice Kirk, who was married to William in 1816, according to a Giles County, Virginia, marriage record.  The rest of the children through Helen Virginia would be the children of Betsey Reeves.
  
  Since the youngest child is reported as age 2, and so born about 1848, it appears that Betsey Reeves died about 1849 or early 1850.  Since Susan is entered at the end of the list of children, it makes it seem that Susan is the wife of William Jr.
