  • The elderly John Hance appears in the 1880 census in Jefferson County, Tennessee, with a much younger wife, reported as Hariet.  Their Jefferson County, Tennessee, marriage record reports her as Harriett Fuse.  The 1880 census clafiies that this was Harriett or Hannah Childs Few, widow of Marion Francis Few.

    In 1880, her two daughters, Jane Few and Emma Few, are in the household.  She was the widow of Francis Marion Few, who died some time before the 1870 census.  In other records she was reported as Hannah.  Some genealogies report that Hannah's real name was Harriet M Childs, and Hannah was a nickname.
