• Adolphus was reported under rthe nickname Dolphus in the 1880 census, as the youngest child of Green and Mary Ann Owen at age 1, in Jefferson County, Alabama.

  Noe that Adolphus is reported in the census as 1 year old,  eaning he was born some time before June 1879.  Ages are often aproximate, rounded up or down, or only guessed at.  But his WWI draft registratoin reporte his birth date a 28 August 1876.  If this was correct, he should have already been almost 4 years old in the  1880 census.  The birth date on his grave is 28 August 1875.
  
  But his father's estate records in May 1893 reported him as one of two minor children, aged 15.  This would make his birth in early 1878.  With this date, he should have been 2 in 1880.  Similarly his brother Phillip was also reported as a minor, aged "19 years last June (1892)."  this also fails to match Phillip's birth date on his grave, 23 July 1874, which should have made him 5 years old in 1880.
