No federal census record for Hugh and Nancy Gregory has been found.

In the 1870 census some sons of Hugh Gregory reported in 1850  appear under the same name.  Reported on this same page with their father were Marion, Starks, Henry and Simpson, who matches Charles S in 1850.

In addition, a William Gregory appears on the next page, with his wife Francis and their two children, named Susan and Benjamin.  His age matches Francis Marion.  Considering those for whom no second name has been determined, William matches no other child in 1850.  The closest would be Hilliard, whose other given name is not known.  But it turns out that Hilliard died in 1858 at the age of 12.

    1870 Federal Census, Itawamba County, Mississippi, 28 August, Township 8, P O Fulton, page 14, Hse/Fam #91
Gregory, William 28 M W At Home b South Carolina
Gregory, Francis 25 F W At Home b South Carolina
    Gregory, Susan 4 F W At Home b Mississippi
    Gregory, Benjamin 2 M W b Mississippi

So it is unclear who this William Gregory is.  With his birth date in line with the sons of Hugh and Nancy Gregory, he matches no child reported in the 1850 census, but his age in 1870 indicates William was born in about 1842.  That matches Francis Marion for other censuses.  Henry appears in a separate entry in 1870.  And Starks has a middle initial of T, reported on his Find a Grave memorial.

The name Hilliard does not appear as a person in this family in later censuses.  No record has been found under the name of Francis Gregory in the 1860 census.

In the 1870 census, another Gregory individual born in South Carolina was reported under a name not appearing with this family in previous censuses.  Andrew Gregory was enumerated in the household of Marion Gregory and his wife.  This household is on the same page as Marion's father High Gregory.

Andrew, reported in Marion's household on this page, is an additional name not found or matched in 1850.  Andrew is reported age 24, which would mean he was born in about 1846, so he may be a cousin who moved to Mississippi with them.  This age does not match any reported child in the 1850 record.  Similarly, an individual named William Gregory is enumerated with his wife Francis on the next page.
