I notice that the birth date here is similar to that reported in the genealogy, but is a year earlier. The census report above would indicate that Arlie was born in either 1909 or 1908. Note that Arlin's mother's maiden name is reported as Gay. In previous information I have seen it, the name Gay appeared to be a nickname for the middle name Gabriel. It appeared from the few sources I could find that the maiden name was Nixon. Perhaps this is a very similar but different Arlin/Arlie Strange.
The 1920 census for Samuel and Samantha and family does record this child as Arlin, lending further support to the name as reported in the California Death Index. Note that this also reports the name of Arlin's mother as Gabriel, supporting our family data from Elisa.
