Notes
- The exact family relationship of Leon Garot to Adolph and Catherine Garot Girerd is uncertain. From the age and other reported factors, Leon appears to be an older brother of Adolph. In the 1910 census, Leon and his Belgium-born family are living next door to Adolph. The birth places of the children indicate that, like Adolph and Catherine, Leon had immigrated first to Louisiana, then moved early in the 20th century to LaGrue, Arkansas County, Arkansas. Other records document them in Louisiana from the time of immigration.

Port records indicate they actually arrived in 1885, not 1884, as reported in this census. The second entry in the ship's manifest for the Garots seems to indicate the name is Charles, but the individual is reported as Female. If this is Therese's husband, as we would think, this seems to indicate that Leon's full name was Charles Leon.

It is not clear why Joseph would have been in the US a shorter time than his parents and sister. This must be an error related to enumerator math, and notice that the year of immigration is reported as the same, 1884. From the form of the daughter's name I would expect that her real name, being from a French-speaking family, was Milane as in 1910, not Malina as in 1900. And I did find that in genealogies carrying this Garot line, she was listed as Milane. No immigration information is reported for any member of the household in 1910.
