I found some genealogies that include this family. The following one has a date of death for George, whom the genealogy names George William. But the date of death is 10 years before he is enumerated in the 1880 census. So the genealogy has given this son of Thomas McSwain and Selena Bridges the date of death for another George McSwain. Several genealogies have somehow confused information for George and his brother William.
George William McSwain
Birth 1827 in North Carolina
Death 4 Jul 1870 in Boiling Springs, Cleveland, North Carolina [wrong info]
Parents Thomas McSwain 1796 - 1872, Salena W Frankie Bridges 1793 - 1862

This error in the death date also brings into question the middle name, and likely the place of burial. As I looked further, I discovered several genealogies who have this date of death for George's brother William D. This date of death is not documented in these genealogies, alas, but I found WIlliam in the Boiling Springs Cemtery registry online. The above genealogy reported the place of burial for George as Boilng Springs, along with the date for William. The genealogy has confused or merged George with William.
