A descendant of John Brinkley, Bill Alexander, has compiled a detailed genealogy of his Brinkley ancestors. In that genealogy, he reports the name of this John Brinkley as John Anderson Brinkley. Other sources, however, family and public, report him as John H Brinkley. The middle name of his son James was Anderson.
The North Carolina record of John's marriage to Jane Parrish (sometimes spelled Parish) reports John as John H Brinkley. The marriage took place in Granville County, North Carolina.
