    Alvin L. McSwain Sr., 89, Cherryville, died June 1, 2009.

    Funeral services will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he servedas deacon.
    Internment will follow in the church cemetery.

    He was retired as an oilier and watchman for Dora Yarn Mill and as awarehouse foreman for Carolina Freight.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Maggie BlackMcSwain and first wife, Lois Dellinger McSwain.

    Survivors include wife, Marie Summey McSwain of the home; daughters,Martha Hendrick and Margaret Sigmon, both of Cherryville; sons, A.L.McSwain Jr., and David McSwain, both of Cherryville; 13 grandchildren;22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
