Strange, Miles W 13 M W TN
The 1870 census lists this person as Miles W, age 13. The Strange family genealogy in World Family Tree, Pedigree #2932, lists this child as Wesley, and has no person named Miles. The name Wesley matches the initial W in the census. This matches an entry in the 1910 census, where Wesley Strange is reported as 57 years old.
There is a Wesley Strange, age 36, recorded in the 1880 census in Jefferson County, Tennessee, but his 35-year-old wife is named Mary, so it does not appear to be this Miles Wesley Strange. But I cannot identify another Wesley Strange. One researcher comments that this is John Wesley, but does not tell us his parents' names. That Wesley and Mary have the following children in 1880:
Marthy Strange 17
Gorge Strange 12
Margrate Strange 9
Coro Strange 5
William Strange 4
Lin Strange 1
The birth year given in the Strange genealogy is 5 years different, however, from that I had used based on the 1870 census. In the census, Miles W is 13, so I estimate birth as Abt 1857. Wesley, on the other hand, is reported by the genealogy as born in 1852. A 2 and a 7 are easily misread on the handwritten censuses and other documents. The known facts otherwise, however, indicate these two names apply to the same person. We know ages vary unreliably in some censuses.
The 1900 census reports his first name as Milas rather than Miles. This reports his birth date as October 1855. I would think the report of three years old in 1860 is more likely correct, making him born in 1856 or 1857. Similarly the 1870 census age of 13 years old.

Jane's brother William M Edmonds lives next door. A couple of doors on down is Frederick Inman Strange, son of Miles Wesley's brother William H Strange and his wife Edith Jane Edmonds.
The Tennessee Death Records report the death of a Rodia Jane Strange, which seems to match Wesley's wife, in 1909 A family genealogy reports an exact date of 9 April 1909. Yet the family appear in the 1910 census, and the wife of Wesley appears to be the same Rhoda Jane, reported as Jane R.

Also on this same page is Hugh and Delilah Hance. As the enumeration continues to the next page, Hugh's daughter Charlie is included. In 1917 Charlie Hance married James Gregory. The Stranges and Gregorys are also kin. James' Uncle Dock Gregory married Julia Ann Clementine Strange. They later moved to Indian Territory.
