January 11, 1916 - March 6, 2006
Pearl Hayes McCoy died Monday March 6, 2006. She was 90 years old. Pearl and Doyle McCoy had one child, Judith McCoy Martinez.
Judith’s father, Dr. Doyle McCoy died three years ago in December. At the time of his death Pearl and Doyle had been married sixty-six years and known each other for sixty-seven years.
Pearl was a teacher and librarian. She retired from Cameron State University. She lost most of her vision thirty years ago and Doyle took very good care of her until his illness that caused his death.
Doyle McCoy majored in botany and wrote several books on wildflowers of Oklahoma. Pearl totally supported his travels over the state taking pictures and selling his books.
Pearl is survived by a sister, Jo Zinn, who is ninety-two, a grandson, Allen Simonds, his wife and two great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, four brothers and two sisters, and her husband, Doyle McCoy.
Services for Pearl are scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the B. G. Boydston Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
The pallbearers are Causine McCoy, Cecil McCoy, Joe Gay, Ron Webb and Byrant Morrow.
