Burrell's family is living in Cocke County, Tennessee in 1870,apparently on their way to their final destination, Ethel, ArkansasCounty, Arkansas.  We find them enumerated there in 1880, along withtheir son Edwin and his wife Judith N McSwain and their family.

I have found no documentation that gives us MA's maiden name.  Onegenealogy reports that Burrell's first wife was M A Ragsdale.  Nodocumentation is given, so this name must come from family sources. But it indicates also that she died in 1889, which means she was themother of the children through Lavina, who was born in January 1889.

This death date of 1889 may be wrong, since marriage records tell usBurrell married Sallie Price in 1885.  Or perhaps Burrell and M Adivorced before he married Sarah Price in 1885.  I have found no deathinfo or subsequent marriage record for M A Ragsdale Padgett,  In anycase, it seems that M A Ragsdale was the mother of only the one childwith Burl, William Edward Padgett.

In his father's and his own memorial on Find a Grave, Bryan isreported as the son of Burrell Wylie Padgett and Sarah L Wilson.Since Burrell married Sarah Wilson Woods in 1892 and Bryan was born in1896, Sarah was his mother.

Two other children several genealogies report as children of MA wereborn after the date of marriage to Sallie Price.  The W E reported asthe son of M A Padgett in 1880 is William Edward.  Sallie Price wasthe mother of the next two children Martha Annie (1886) and LavinaPadgett (1889).

Though I have not found the death record as of December 2014, it wouldseem that Sallie Price Padgett died, because in 1892 B W Padgettmarried S L Woods in Mississippi.  This appears to be the Sarah Lreported as Burl's wife in the 1900 and later censuses.

Her name is written as Miss S L Wood, but in the 1900 census, thereare 2 children with the surname of Woods, indicating that Woods washer first married name.  This wife is reported as Sarah L Padgett inthe 1900 census.

This census says "Bear" and Sarah L have been married 6 years.  Thismatches the marriage of Burl to Sarah Wilson Woods in 1892.  There aretwo new children here, Bryan J and Loula, that were born to Sarahafter her marriage to Burl.

(The census taker misheard Burl Wiley as Bear Y.  Easy to do in thedialect of the area.)  We may conclude that M A (whose given names andmaiden name I have not yet figured out) died before 1894.  There aretwo children in the household named Woods, born in Mississippi.Although this census reports these are the daughter and son of Burl("Bear"), they are his step-children.  They are 14 and 8 years old,and thus born before this marriage.  We may thus conclude that Sarahwas previously married to a man named Woods.  We also note that Sarahhas lost 4 of her 8 children.

A couple of Padgett genealogies report that Burl died in ComancheCounty, Oklahoma, in October 1930.  With that clue I found censusentries for Burl (Burrell) and Sarah in Holdenville, Hughes County,Oklahoma, for 1910 and 1920, then near Lawton, Comanche County,Oklahoma, in 1930.

The 1910 census tells us that Burl was married three times, not justtwice.  I have not found and records for a wife before MA, reported ashis wife in 1880.  In 1880, only one child, a 4-month-old infant, wasreported in the home.  Since he was 9 or 10 years older than M A, Burlmay have been married earlier, with no children from that marriage.Since the 1910 census reports that Sarah L and Burl have been married6 years.  That matches somewhat with another marriage record of Burlto S L Woods in 1892.  This appears to be the Sarah L Woods who isreported as Burl's wife in the 1900 and later censuses.  But sinceBurl married Sallie (which would also be for Sarah) Price in 1885.This would account for the three wives of Burl reported in the 1910census.
