Notes

  • Amon was born in Georgia.  Genealogies report his parents as:
    Parents:
    Michael Cline 1795 - 1860
    Rachael Susannah Amburn 1796 - 1848

Amon's age varies in censuses, but generally indicates birth as lateas 1847.  This would have made him only 3 years old in 1850, again notbelievable when he was reported as 10 years old.  His age in 1930 wasreported as 96 years old, matching age reported in 1910 of 76, whichmakes birth about 1834.

    He married in 1855.

Note that both the daughters are married but neither husband is inthis household.

Sarah Ann died in 1904 and Amon remarried in 1906.  Shortly after thathe moved his family to Oklahoma.  According to family sources Sarahdied after they moved to Oklahoma, where they were living in WrayTownship of Jefferson County.  Her memorial on Find a Grave reportsthat she died in 1904 in Jefferson County, Oklahoma.  So Amon andSarah Ann moved to Oklahoma, where she died shortly afterward.  Amonreturned to Georgia apparently to marry and bring his new wife back toOklahoma Territory.

Their marriage record records that Amon and Rebecca Jane Pitman inCherokee County, where Amon and Sarah were living before they moved toOklahoma Territory.  Amon married Rebecca Jane in Cherokee County.Georgia, in 1906 and they were reported in the 1910 census for the newState of Oklahoma, in the same location where they had been when SarahAnn died in 1904.

For the 1910 census they are in Jefferson County, Oklahoma, on the RedRiver.  According to family sources Sarah died after they moved toOklahoma, where they were living in Wray Township of Jefferson County. The year of death is reported as 1907.  The place of death isconfirmed in Sarah Ann's memorial later posted on Find a Grave.  Butshe died in 1904, according to her gravestone.  This is consistentwith the marriage record of Amon to his second wife Rebecca JanePitman in 1906.  He went back to Georgia, and they married in Amon'sold place of residence, Cherokee County.  They then he took her toOklahoma Territory.  They are enumerated there in the 1910 census, andthis is reported as Rebecca's first marriage, consistent with themarriage license title of Miss.  It reports that this is her firstmarriage.
