    DURANT DAILY DEMOCRAT, December 1935, Durant, Bryan County, Oklahoma,reads as follows:

    C. E. Ward Dies Here Early Today

    C. E. Ward, aged 81 years, died at his home, 208 South 4th avenue,this morning after an extended illness. The deceased, born in Alabama,lived in several states of the Old South before moving to Texas, andcame from the latter state to Durant about 22 years ago.

    Funeral services will be conducted at the Calvary Baptist churchFriday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. A. L. Johnson, formerpastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Highlandcemetery.

    He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Fred Taylor, Ardmore, and Mrs.Zillar Carlton, Mrs. A. O. Walker, Mrs. Tuck Marsh, Mrs. O. M.Williamson and Mrs. Alta Prentice, all of Durant, and two sons,Earnest Ward and Ed Ward, both of Durant. He was the grandfather ofLynn Marsh, Southeastern student and athlete.

    Active pall bearers will be Henry Reason, Zill Porter, Robert Rigdon,Luke Herron, Ben Blanchard and Chester Townsend.

    Honorary pall bearers are, Dr. R. E. Sawyer, M. L. Tanner, C. E. Amis,Ben Siegel, J. L. Blanchard, John Fletcher, J. W. Walker, John Walker,Les Smith, Howard Holmes, W. E. England, Albert Kirby, Robert Boston,Ed Pickens and John Price.
