    Memories of a descendant:
Grandpa (Newton R.) came to live with Minnie's family in the early30's. He went back to Maud's in Nocona some. Ft. Washita is a museumnow. It's 18 miles from Durant, OK. There is a cabin on the grounds atFt. Washita. Mother said, as we visited Ft. Washita, that her dad,Maud and Willie lived in this cabin after she married. Maud marriedJack York and he is buried on the grounds there at Ft. Washita.
He was very dependent on Minnie. She seemed fond of him as he did her.We lived on a farm at Mead, OK. Mother cooked on a wood-burning cookstove and washed on a rub board.
His health was fairly good. He sat on the porch by the hour as welived on the highway. Living with an active family probably wasn'teasy. We were active in church, school and community but he didn't gomuch nor do I remember him helping any with garden or farm chores. After the old age pension started he went into Durant and lived in ahome there - a short time, but Minnie still cared for his needs.
As his health deteriorated he came back to our house to live and wasbed-fast. Maud came from Nocona at the time to help care for him. Hedied Sept. 1943 and was buried at Ravia beside Martha Elvira.
