[Martha Oneida Bates, married William Joseph Terry]

In 1920, Martha is enumerated under the name of Ned, which must be hernickname.  In 1920 two unmarried sons are still living in thehousehold of Martha and her husband William Joseph Terry.  Theirwidowed daughter Agnes Beavers is also in their home, with herdaughter Lillian, age 5.

In 1928, Martha lost her husband.  They had lived their whole lives inMurray County, Georgia.  In 1930 she is living with her unmarried sonDock, who also has what appears to be a sister-in-law and her daughter(niece to Dock).

Martha's name in the 1920 and 1930 censuses was confusing and hard toread.  I could not make sense of it at first.  In my research, thiswas the first indication I had found of Martha's nickname Ned.  Ilater found the same name for her in the 1920 census, as reportedabove.  This nickname probably comes from her middle name Oneida.
