In the 1870 census for Murray County, Georgia, there are four Terry households in a row, in the 1013th Militia District near Spring Place.  On page 7, first listed is Lewis S Terry (for Lewis Sirus, meaning Cyrus Lewis) and his wife Emily Jones Bates and their family.  In the next two houses we find Joseph and Martha Terry and William and Julia A Terry.  Lewis and Emily have only one child, 1-year-old Douglas.

In 1880 there are four Terry households in a row, in Murray County, Georgia, where the family have lived for a couple of generations.  They are living in McDonald Township.  Cyrus L Terry and wife "Emely J" live with their children in house #259, and are listed as Family #268.

House #260/Family #269 are John R Terry and wife Catherine and family.  House #261/Family #270 are William J Terry, age 36, and wife Martha O and family.  There is one house between William and elder William, age 69, and wife Julie Ann ("July Ann"), with other children in their home.

In 1900 Cyrus is living next door to his brother Duncan (Thomas Duncan) still in Murray County, Georgia, and 4 houses down from his brother Joe (William Joseph).  This census included the month and year of birth.  Cyrus' birth date is reported as Jan 1847, a year different from the Terry Family source cited here.

Most of the family remained where they were all their lives.  One sister Mary married and moved to Whitfield County, Georgia.  Duncan, however, went west, like two other members of the Terry family.  Duncan apparently moved straight to Marlow, Chickasaw Nation.  (Marlow became the county seat of Stephens County, Oklahoma, at the creation of the state in 1907.)

Their cousin Duncan Lafayette Terry, moved to western Arkansas, then across the border in to Oklahoma. An uncle Joseph Lewis Terry went to North Texas.

In 1910 Cyrus is reported in the census as Louis W.  In 1920 he also inexplicably appears as Louis W.

Jennie's age reports and birth dates vary wildly in the sources.  Here she is age 29, but her birth date reported in 1900 was Oct 1876, and in the 1800 census she was reported as already 7 years old (born 1873)!

In 1920, we find for the first time (Cyrus) Louis is listed with some occupation other than Farmer.  He is a merchant with a general store.  His son Cyrus is the Farmer.

Richard Bates, in his Terry Genealogy, reports that Cyrus Lewis (born 1846) died 29 May 1925 in Murray County, and is buried in Hassler's Cemetery.  The 1930 census reports that Emily is a widow, living with her two sons Cyrus and William.

In 1930 Cyrus Lewis Jr is still single and his widowed mother Emily is living with him, still in the same location, living next door to Emily's son Grover C Terry and his family.  Cyrus and Grover's brother William O is also still single at 39 and living with Cyrus and Emily.
