Notes

• I note that Matt Cornwell states in his Cornwell and Denton Family Tree, which includes many Greens, that Thomas was killed in battle in the Civil War and his body was not brought back home.  The compilation of Rutherford County Marriages, however, reports that both Thomas and his wife Susan (Susanna) Bridges were buried in Boiling Springs Cemetery (Cleveland County, North Carolina).
  
  They are listed in the 1860 census with their children in Cleveland County, North Carolina.  Also in the household are Thomas' brother John Elias and his wife Sarah Boswell McSwain.  The census reports that both the wives are illiterate.

  The two older children are John and Sarah's.  Matt Cornwell tells us that they were married in 1852.  The two younger ones are Thomas and Susan's children.  Cornwell reports that they married in 1857.
  
  I don't know what the Jr was meant to indicate on Thomas' name.  His father was John Elias Green.  There is another Thomas Green on this page, listed as Thomas Green Sr.  But this person is age 27, only 3 years older than Thomas Green Jr.  The one designated Sr is married to Jacintha S.
