Notes

  • Joseph died before the 1880 census, when we find Sarah Green as the head of the household, with only some of her children.  The household includes her married daughter Patience J and her husband George G McSwain, listed as part of the same family.

    Additionally, as a separate family in the same household is James Green, whom I would expect to be also a child of Sarah and Joseph.  But I do not have earlier information on a son named James, who at age 26 in this census, should have been born in about 1854, two years before Patience.  In the 1860 census, when Patience appears as the oldest child at age 4 (born abt 1856).
