The date of birth on Edna's gravestone is 29 Jan 1876. A different date appears on the Delayed Certificate of Birth of her son Roy Jackson Hayes, 29 Jan 1865. This would put her age closer to her husband's. Hendrix was born in 1854, so even at the earlier date, he would still be 11 years older than her. By the age on the gravestone, he is 22 years older than Edna.

Edna was a witness on the request and receipt of the Delayed Certificate of Birth, so it would seem she would have caught an error in her birth date. But I would also wonder how the stonecutter could make such a gross error, and even more so why it would not have been caught by the family and corrected.

Edna married Hendrix Hayes in Baxter County, Arkansas in 1897. They are enumerated there in eh 190 census with several members of the Hayes family living in their household.

The 1900 census reports that Ernest (William E) was born in Arkansas. But the 1910 census Ernest reports his birth state as Oklahoma, while his younger sister Mary M is reported born in Arkansas. The 1920 census correctly reports both Ernest and (Mary) Myrtle as born in Arkansas.

The family moved to Indian Territory in about 1902. Their daughter Mary was born in Arkansas about 1901, and their next son Ray was born in Indian Territory (reported as Oklahoma in the 1910 census) about 1903. By census time in 1910 they had moved to Clay County, Texas.

Their son Roy (Jackie) was born in May 1909. So they moved to Texas in the last half of 1909 or early 1910. The 1920 census reports the next three children were born in Texas. Ivy (Iva) was born in January 1916. Since the 1920 census date was January 1, this means they moved back to Oklahoma between January 1916 and December 1910.

The censuses here indicate they moved from Arkansas to Indian Territory (merged with Oklahoma in December 1907) between 1900 and 1903. Hendrix's obituary reports they moved to Indian Territory in 1902. The 1910-1920 census reports of Ray's birth in Oklahoma matches this. They then moved into Clay County, Texas, in the latter half of 1909 (after the birth of Roy Jackson in Oklahoma), then to Cherokee County, Texas, at some point between the 1910 and 1920 censuses, but were back in Garvin County, Oklahoma, by the February 1920 census,

In 1930, the enumerator apparently misheard Hendrix' name, recording it as Henry.
