Notes
- In 1900, Emma was enumerated with her widowed mother and two siblings in Dallas County, Arkansas. The census tells us that William and Angie are the children of Angie, and the oldest child, John W, is her stepson, the son on Angie's husband's first wife, we would assume. We are led to that conclusion by the difference in the birth state of the mothers. John's mother was born in Arkansas, while Emma and William's mother was born in Mississippi, matching Angie.

Note that although Angie's mother is in the home, and her birth place is reported as Alabama, on Angie's record, her mother is reported as North Carolina. This seems to indicate that Susan is Angie's stepmother, not her birth mother. The difference in age reported by a geneanlogy for Susan and her husband W Freeman also indicates that Susan Nix was the second wife of W Freeman. W Freeman was born in 1825 and Susan was born in 1844, or as reported here, 1847.

In the 1940 census for Edward Luther Dumond in LaGrue Township, near DeWitt, Arkansas, Luther's wife is Emma Teal, instead of Hassie Lee. Hassie is reported in previous records as his wife, and in most family genealogies as his only wife.. The Teal step children in the home confirm the previous married name of Emma.
Since the death date I have for Hassie Lee is 1978, it appears that Hassie and Luther divorced after the 1930 census, when their youngest child was 2 years old. I have found no divorce record, nor any later record of Hassie until her death information.
From the age of Lottie here, we can estimate that Luther married Emma Teal about 1933, we can say that Luther and Hassie divorced some time before 1934. Why can I find no record?

In the 1940 census, Emma Miller is living alone next door to this Luther Dumond. Her presence next door seems to that this is her son Edward Luther Dumond, son of Edward Caliste Dumond.

This genealogy reported no other wife for Luther. I referenced some of the records this genealogy cited. I found the marriage record of Emma to George Teal.

Another genealogy has Emma Ross with both her husbands, but has no information on Luther Dumond to clarify further. There are also no marriage dates, and no documentation.

This genealogy has no information on Luther Dumond's family. It indicates that George Teal, Emma's first husband, died in 1928. This indicates he died while Emma was pregnant with their last child, Jimmie.
George Dunlap Teal
Birth 02-1861 in Gulledges, North Carolina
Death 02-21-1928 in Dallas County, Arkansas
The birth in 1861 is 9 years earlier than his age at marriage would indicate, about 1870.
Some of the Teal children are listed by name and some information in the Langston genealogy.
-----------------------------------
George D. Teal
Birth 12-10-1915 in Carthage, AR
Death 02-28-1995 in Newport, AR
Tommy Teal
Birth 07-26-1925 in Arkansas
Death in Arkansas
Jimmie Teal
Birth 04-28-1929 in Arkansas
Death 05-03-1994 in Arkansas
This Tommy would be the Thomas Chester listed in the Dumond household in the 1940 census. Jimmie is James Wesley in the 1940 census.
-----------------------------------
Note that the birth dates for Jimmie and for Marie and Troy in the 1940 census are after the death date reported for George Teal in the Arkansas Death Index, 21 Feb 1928.
There is a death record with the same birth date for Emma Ross Teal Dumond. But the place of death is Hernando, DeSoto County, Mississippi, not Stuttgart, Arkansas. This may be a member of the Dumond clan in Mississippi that happens to have the same birth date. But the death date matches also.
This make me suspect that the reports in genealogies of her death in Stuttgart is the erroneous location. But why she was in Mississippi, I have not determined. She was buried in Benton, Arkansas, where two of her sons were living. Genealogies provide no source documentation for her death date, which matches that given in the Mississippi record.
