Notes

  • We learned in August 2009 that the record of marriage of Nancy Elizabeth Jackson to James A C Martin showed her last name as Green.

    Texas Marriage License
    J A Martin and N E Green [Jackson Yeary]
Issued 4 October 1895 Weatherford, Parker County, Texas
Married 6 October 1895 by K G Tennison, Minister of the Gospel
    Filed 7 October 1895

It is not known why Nancy gave her last name as Green.  Her birth surname was Jackson, and she had been married to a Yeary.  We have no indication of why she would have a surname of Green.  Her mother was Telitha Green. Her father was Abraham Jackson.  Marion Mixon, my cousin and co-researcher, who first discovered the marriage register recording N E Green and J A Martin, has suggested that there was an error in recording that confused Nancy's surname with her mother's maiden name.

Nancy's first husband was named Yeary (first name unknown) in abt 1890.  They had one child, Jim Yeary.

The 1910 census of Nancy and James Martin reports this was James' first marriage and Nancy's second.  This would mean Nancy's first marriage was with Mr Yeary (first name unkknown).
